All Security Limited

Marilyn Phillips is a busy woman. With three businesses in Carshalton, Surrey, to run, she’s constantly juggling dozens of different demands on her time, so she needs to know that her financial affairs are in safe hands.

So she’s delighted that a chance meeting with Alan Weatherer, of Weatherer Bailey Bragg, has led to a productive professional relationship that saw her make her first business acquisition, in October 2006.

Her longest-established company, All Security Limited, bought out another local security firm, taking its total number of security officers from 50 to 70. The company, founded in 1969, also offers fire safety services, including fire risk assessments and fire warden training.

Weatherer Bailey Bragg played a key role in the acquisition. Marilyn explains: “As our first business acquisition, this was quite a daunting new venture and we couldn’t have done it without their help.

“From the initial business planning stage, right through to the signing of the deal, the team provided support and assistance.”

Marilyn has been working with Weatherer Bailey Bragg for around six years. She first learned of the firm after meeting Alan Weatherer on holiday and decided to approach them when she felt her existing accountancy firm was too small to cope with the demands of her growing businesses.

Day-to-day financial issues, including payroll and management accounts, are dealt with in-house, with Weatherer Bailey Bragg looking after Marilyn’s personal tax matters, providing tax advice and dealing with end of year accounts for her three businesses - All Security Limited, wedding car hire company White Ribbon Limited, which she set up in 1986, and Bride of the Times Limited, a wedding dress shop that opened in 2005.

Marilyn’s long distance relationship with Weatherer Bailey Bragg runs smoothly and efficiently, thanks to regular e-mail and telephone contact – “I’m always on the phone to them for advice, sometimes weekly, sometimes daily,” she says. There is also annual face-to-face meeting when the end of year accounts for the three businesses – which have been co-ordinated to be due at the same time – are drawn up.

Marilyn sums up: “Tax and accountancy issues change constantly and a small accountancy practice couldn’t be expected to have expertise in each different area. Weatherer Bailey Bragg are a large concern, with specialists in each field, which is what I need, and I look forward to continuing to work with them.”
