Sutton Coldfield accountants Weatherer Bailey Bragg LLP are building a new partnership with the town’s Bishop Vesey’s Grammar School to recognise the achievements of the business stars of the future.
For the first time this year, the firm is sponsoring an award for the sixth form student achieving the best results in their AS level Business Studies exam.
The winner was Karan Pancholi, who achieved 280 out of a possible 300 marks, earning him an AS level at the top of the A grade.
He received his engraved glass trophy from Weatherer Bailey Bragg partner Richard Miner at a ceremony at the school on 20 November.
Bishop’s Vesey has been offering A level business studies for around 15 years and a GCSE in the subject for seven. A total of 41 students took AS business studies in the summer and 35 of those have gone on to study the subject at A level.
Kathryn Wright, head of business studies, said: “Many of our business studies students continue with business studies, or related subjects, like finance and accountancy, at university so we very much value the involvement and support of Weatherer Bailey Bragg in giving our students greater insight into the business world.”
Richard Miner said: “We are delighted to be developing this new relationship with Bishop Vesey’s. As well as celebrating pupils’ achievements, we hope our involvement will provide an opportunity to generate interest in finance and accountancy as a career and assist the school in helping pupils to develop their business knowledge.”
